MAC SEKA
Mac Seka is a solo artist based in Bath ,uk.Originally from,Senegal he completed his training as a marine officer at the E.N.F.M Dakar. More interested in art and music he became a painter and taught himself guitar. He formed an acoustic trio- Fadjart, playing clubs and schools in Dakar. It was when playing in Gambia with The Sunshine Band, that a British producer and manager invited them to tour the UK. This led to the formation of Jelitarafuta. For two years he played with Jelitarafuta touring the UK ,including playing the Avalon stage,Glastonbury and Malborough Jazz Festival. Wanting to work on his own original compositions he left to pursue a solo career. He now performs his own original material ,singing in his native language Wolof. His songs talk of love and life,the hopes and fear of people everywhere,irrespective of creed or nation. His sings of the need for mutual respect and tolerance, the young for old,the rich for the poor. He sings of the regret and loss felt in old age and of a search for redemption. Singing in Wolof,his language is poetic and expressive.
